I used Seagrams Seven Dark Honey whiskey and diet Sierra Mist soda. I made no other changes. VERY good. Lynchburg Lemonade is one of my favorite cocktails--the honey whiskey made it even better!-25 Jun 2012

Wow this is crisp and refreshing - a perfect drink for those hot summer nights! It's like lemonade with a bit of a kick. This recipe is a spot on so if you're a fan of Jack Daniel's give this a try. You won't be disappointed. I would definitely shake vs. stir. Just garnish with a slice of lemon and add a straw. But, be careful because these go down easy...-03 Aug 2011

One of my favorite summer time drinks. I add lemon slices into the pitcher and glass and a maraschino cherry or two. When I want it a little sweeter I add some of the cherry juice!-18 May 2010

Enjoy Carnival’s Pig & Anchor Lynchburg Lemonade at Home

Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate than with a nice tall glass of lemonade, or even better…an adult lemonade. It’s great for relaxing outside while reading a book or making a big batch for a picnic or BBQ.

Adult lemonades have always been popular, and nowadays, you can find many versions of premade hard lemonades, but why not impress your guests with a homemade version? It’s a lot more refreshing and less carbonated than the ones you’ll find on the shelf.

You can find this drink at Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse aboard the Carnival Horizon, Carnival Panorama, Carnival Mardi Gras, and Carnival Celebration, but it’s so easy to make at home. Unlike some of the other recipes we’ve covered, there are no fancy or hard-to-find ingredients here you can find everything at your local grocery and liquor store. Carnival uses fresh-made lemonade for their version, but you can just pick up premade lemonade mix if you want to make it easier.

To make homemade lemonade

For each serving you want to make, you need to combine:

DON’T use the bottled lemon juice! I’ve made the mistake of doing that, and it’s not good. If you’re going to go with bottled ingredients, save the time and just buy lemonade instead.

If you’re making it from scratch, I HIGHLY recommend using a lemon juicer. This is so much easier and you get so much more than squeezing by hand. A bartender friend told me about this tool, and it made cocktail making so much easier. This is the one I have: Zulay Metal Lemon Lime Squeezer – Manual Citrus Press Juicer but you can find one at Target and Walmart as well.

Lynchburg Lemonade Recipe

We had these in New Orleans and they were perfect on a hot spring day. So refreshing and delicious! I am so excited to share how to make a Lynchburg Lemonade today! I feel like this is such a great drink for summer or any day you just want to kick your feet up!

Can you make Jack Daniel's Lynchburg Lemonade in a pitcher?

This recipe could easily be doubled or tripled if you are serving a crowd. Just mix the Lynchburg Lemonade Recipe in a pitcher instead of a cocktail shaker. You will follow the recipe in the same order just add it to a pitcher.

Great New Orleans Cocktail Recipes

Ingredients needed

  • Jack Daniel's Tennessee whiskey
  • Sweet and Sour Mix
  • Triple sec
  • Sprite
  • Ice

Garnish with a lemon slice and a maraschino cherry

Equipment needed

Cocktail Shaker - You will need a cocktail shaker you can easily maneuver and hold both ends of it. You can even get Mason Jar Cocktail Shakers which works great. I love using mine because I know the lid is screwed on tightly and not going to fall off.

Jalapeño Lynchburg Lemonade

When the weather starts to get warmer, I automatically want drinks that taste light and refreshing, so, naturally, any type of lemonade catches my attention. I’ll admit, I’m not the biggest fan of whiskey, but I’ve made some pretty tasty drinks with it over the last few months, and I’m definitely becoming one. This twist on a Lynchburg lemonade has basically sealed the deal for me.

The idea to add the jalapeño to the drink actually came from work. I was working an event when my boss decided to add some jalapeño slices to the lemonade. It was amazing. Not super spicy, but just enough to give it a special touch. It’s just as amazing in this cocktail, too. Plus, it’s super easy to make, which, is always a total plus for me.

*Note: Use caution when handling any type of hot pepper. Be sure to avoid contact with your eyes after touching the peppers. Wash hands thoroughly, as peppers can cause a nasty sting.

The first thing you want to do is to slice your jalapeños. I use plastic gloves whenever I can, since I have a habit of doing exactly what I warned you not to do, and my eyes end up burning. So, I guess you could say it’s one of those “Do as I say, not as I do” kind of things.

Put some slices at the bottom of a shaker and smash them up good . Add some ice, whiskey, and sour mix.

Shake it up and pour evenly into your glasses. Next, top off the glasses with lemon-lime soda.

Adding more jalapeño slices for garnish isn’t really necessary, but it makes it look pretty.

How to Make Lynchburg Lemonades

Before I get to that cupcake recipe. Interested in making the Lynchburg Lemonade cocktail? Let me tell you how!

This is a two step process, with the first step - making the Lemon “Sour” Mix - best to be done ahead of time.

Lemon Sour Mix

One of the ingredients in a Lynchburg Lemonade is sour mix, made from sugar, water, and juice mix.

Historically, that’s usually come as a processed product called “bar mix”, “bar lime”, or “sour mix”.

While that’s gone out of favour with the rise of craft cocktails, I’ve *always* preferred making the homemade version - it isn’t that much work, and tastes so much better!

Usually, that mix is either equal amounts of lemon and lime juices OR a lime-forward mix. but here’s my recipe for Lemon Sour Mix:

1 ½ cups Water
1 ½ cups Granulated Sugar
1 ½ cups Lemon juice *
½ cup Lime Juice

Combine water and sugar in a saucepan. Heat to boiling, stirring until sugar is dissolved.

Remove from heat and cool. Once syrup is cooled, add lemon and lime juices, stir well.

Store unused syrup in fridge for no more than 2 weeks.

* Freshly squeezed juice is always best!

Also, you can play with amounts and type of juices used. Try 1 ½ cups lime juice and ½ cup lemon juice for a great margarita mix. Substitute orange juice for some of the lemon and/or lime juice for an interesting citrus mix.
