Strudel recipe with apples and cream of of 13-05-2009 [Updated on 19-04-2017]
Puff pastry strudels with apples and custard are one of my favorite snack treats. Very easy to make, hyper greedy and less laborious than the traditional apple strudel, they are a cuddle that I often allow myself on Saturday afternoon when I decide to relax a little in the kitchen and prepare something quick. Ivano and I love apple desserts and this is one of our favorite desserts. Moving on to something else, I announce that I am preparing some light recipes, but I have not yet had the opportunity to transcribe them, so for now get this sweet, but in the next few days I will put you on a stick;)
How to make apple and cream Strudel
Start by preparing the custard.
In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the sugar.
Incorporate the flour while continuing to mix.
Now add the milk slowly and form a homogeneous mixture.
Transfer the mixture to a saucepan, add the lemon zest and cook the custard over a very low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon to prevent lumps from forming.
When the cream is ready, let it cool.
Peel the apples and cut them into cubes, cook them in a saucepan with the butter, sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.
Cook for about 5-10 minutes, or until the apples are softened.
Now roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 6 rectangles.
Spread a few spoonfuls of cream and a few spoonfuls of apples on each rectangle of puff pastry.
Fold the puff pastry, sealing the edges well.
Brush the apple and cream strudel with a little milk, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and make cuts on their surface with a knife.
Place the strudel on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
Cook the apple and cream puff pastry strudel in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for about 25 minutes.
Let it cool and serve.
